Cyclists excel in 175km race
Attracting cyclists from across South Africa every year, the 26th annual PPC Kremetart Race was held in Louis Trichardt on Saturday and Sunday.
LOUIS TRICHARDT – Attracting cyclists from across South Africa every year, the 26th annual PPC Kremetart Race was held in Louis Trichardt on Saturday and Sunday.
The race is divided into four stages and equals a distance of 175km.
The first stage, which was 53km started at the Info Centre and proceeded to Waterpoort, where the second stage, which was 48km started and ended at Vivo.
The 52km third stage stretched from Vivo to Schoemansdal, with the last 22km stage stretching from Schoemansdaal back to Louis Trichardt.
There was also a 70km road race, 10km fun ride and a kiddies ride.
On Sunday, cyclists showed mettle in the mountain bike XCO.
After a day of cycling, cyclists got together for the prize-giving, as well as a plate of potjie prepared by the Roundtable 66 in Louis Trichardt.
A moment of silence was held in memory of one of the cyclists who collapsed during the 10km fun ride on Saturday.
The cause of death is not yet known.
