Zanis gymnasts impress at Lim Rhythmic Competition

POLOKWANE – Zanis Gymnastics Academy are proud of their gymnasts’ performances this past weekend.

Zanis Gymnastics Academy went to the Limpopo Rhythmic Competition in Polokwane on May 29.

A total of 97 gymnasts competed in this competition with 54 of the 97 gymnasts being from Zanis Gymnastics. Zanis proved they were up for the challenge by having a total of 46 gymnasts that were included in the Limpopo team and receiving 89 medals which included 38 gold medals, 32 silver medals, and 19 bronze medals.

Zanis gymnasts also won 12 out of the 16 sections during the competition.

All three top awards for best gymnast in each level went to the Zanis gymnasts:

• Level 1 Thaoto Moeno.

• Level 2 Neo Mogoshoa.

• Level 3 Sharne Bronkhorst.

Zanis won five of the six Level 1 sections. Podium winners in each age group in Level 1 from Zanis were:

Level 1 u/6:

• 1st Dorothy de Lange (3 gold).

Level 1 u/7:

• 1st Lepsy Chuene (3 gold).

•2nd Kiara van Breda (3 silver).

Level 1 u/8:

• 1st Jana Prinsloo (3 gold).

• 3rd Joelle Baker (1 silver, 2 bronze).

Level 1 u/9:

•1st Thato Moeno (3 gold).

•2nd Rebotile Letshedi (3 silver).

Level 1 u/10:

• 1st Malebo Ledwaba (3 gold).

• 2nd Phomolo Mathobela (3 silver).

Level 1 u/11:

• 2nd Potego Matsebe (3 silver)

Zanis won four of the five Level 2 sections. Podium winners in each age group in Level 2 from Zanis were:

Level 2 u/8:

• 1st Mikaila Jacobs (2 gold, 1 silver).

• 2nd Mutshidze Malumedzha (1 gold, 1 silver).

• 3rd Clarissa Combrinck (2 silver).

Level 2 u/9:

• 1st Klara Pretorius (3 gold).

• 2nd Ofilwe Hlabyago (3 silver).

• 3rd Sunel Bothma (2 bronze).

Level 2 u/10:

• 2nd Annika de Lange (1 gold, 2 silver).

• 3rd Katlego Chuene (3 bronze).

Level 2 u/11:

• 1st Thandulwazi Mashigo (3 gold).

Level 2 over 11:

• 1st Neo Mogoshoa (2 gold, 1 silver).

• 2nd Caitlin Smith (1 gold, 2 silver).

Zanis won 3 of the 5 sections. Podium winners in each age group in Level 3 from Zanis were:

Level 3 u/8:

• 1st Melchizedek Maponya (3 gold).

Level 3 u/9:

• 1st Shane Bronkhorst (2 gold, 1 bronze).

• 2nd Brigitte Combrinck (1 gold, 2 silver).

• 3rd Lane Kruger (1 gold, 1 bronze).

Level 3 u/10:

• 1st Keletso Montani (2 gold, 1 bronze).

• 2nd Niane Coetzee (3 silver).

• 3rd Tammylee Ferreira (1 gold, 1 bronze).

Level 3 u/11:

• 3rd Bontle Mahlangu (1 silver, 2 bronze).

Level 3 over 11:

• 3rd Khomotso Marokane (1 silver, 2 bronze).

The 46 gymnasts will be representing Limpopo in the Inter-Provincial South African Tournament at the Berario Recreation Center in Randburg on 26 and 27 June.
