POLOKWANE – Not even the cold winter air could keep racing enthusiasts away from the Polokwane oval track last Saturday, where the club championships were held.

In the stockrods class, 13 cars got things off to a scorching start, making for some entertaining racing.

In the rookie class, Ruan van Breda and his sister, Roeline had the crowd divided as the two had a race to be remembered.

The 1660 and 2.1L modifieds classes gave spectators something stunning to look at while the driving was the best in years.

One of the spectators, Jaco Lindeque, said he tried to be at every race as he loved the sport and not even the weather conditions could keep him away.

The Winter’s Trophy took place on Saturday and secured entries from Klerksdorp Raceway and a good number of racers from Gauteng.
