Limpopo golf teams lock horns with Mpumalanga

The Limpopo Golf Union Biangular locked horns with the Mpumalanga golf team during the Mid-Amateur and Premier Inter-Provincial (IPT) Golf Challenge at the Polokwane Golf Club last Saturday and Sunday.

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Golf Union Biangular locked horns with the Mpumalanga golf team during the Mid-Amateur and Premier Inter-Provincial (IPT) Golf Challenge at the Polokwane Golf Club last Saturday and Sunday.

It is a yearly tradition for the Mid-Amateur and the Premier IPT Limpopo and Mpumalanga teams to play against each other before the two teams go for inter-provincial tours.

The premier inter-provincial teams will battle it out during the IPT Tour in Gauteng from 20 to 26 September. The mid-amateur teams will take to the fairway in East London during the Mid-Amateur Tour from 10 to 17 October.

According to Jean Sadie, Limpopo Golf Union Operations Manager, the two Limpopo teams did exceptionally well during the tour preparations.

“The yearly Biangular was played with the foursome games played on Saturday afternoon and the singles games played Sunday morning. The Limpopo premier team delivered a great performance in the foursomes with a 3-1 victory and entered the singles in the lead. The Limpopo mid-amateur team looked like they struggled to get points but with great determination they finished the foursomes with 2-2,” said Sadie.

He added that the Limpopo Premier Singles team lost 6-2 and the Mid-Amateur team 6,5-1,5 with the final result in Mpumalanga’s favour for both teams. Limpopo Premier team lost 7-5 and the Limpopo Mid-Amateur team lost 8,5-3,5

“This was great practice for our teams before they go on tour, the managers from both teams had a good look at combinations and positioning of players,” explained Sadie.
