Lim Bulls show their steel against Valke

POLOKWANE – The Assupol Limpopo Blue Bulls and the Hino Valke met in a clash of wills and determination at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex on Saturday, 26 September in the Absa u/19 and u/21 competition.

The u/19 match saw the Valke taking an early lead with player Christopher Schimper scoring the first try in the eighth minute. This was followed by strong defense from the Valke preventing the Bulls from scoring. The Valke followed up their first try with two more before Martin Shimo of the Bulls managed to break through their defense to put his team on the scoreboard in the 33rd minute.

Attie Jansen van Vuuren from the Valke answered Shimo’s try with yet another one for his team just before the end of the first half, bringing the score to 17-7 in favour of the Valke. The second half offered just as much scoring action. The final score was 36-19 in the favour of the Hino Valke.

In the Absa u/21 match, the Assupol Limpopo Blue Bulls and Hino Valke teams kick-started the action with a try from Jean Grobler for the Bulls in the eighth and ninth minute of the game.

The Valke quickly answered the try with one of their own when Philip Grobler broke through the defense to score their first try.

Both teams scored one more try each in the first half, ending it with a score of 14-12 in favour of the Bulls.

At the start of the second half, Jean Grobler raced past the defense of the Valke a second time to score another try for the Bulls in the 45th minute.

This time it was Jackie Jonkers from the Valke who rose to the challenge with an answering try in the 50th minute.

Strong defense and smart game plays from the Bulls saw them secure the win in the final minutes when David Pieterse and Done Davis scored tries for their team.

The final score for the match between the u/21 team was 35-19 in favour of the Bulls.

The Bulls team will face off against the Boland team in Boland on Saturday, 3 October in the Absa u/21 semi-final.
