Pedallers in pursuit of Limpopo colours

POLOKWANE – Cyclists from the province locked horns during the annual DebtSafe Cansa Mountain Bike (MTB) challenge at Shikwaru Lodge in Mokopane on Saturday.
The athletes who competed in the 35 km and 75 km races had to do their best to qualify for Limpopo colours.
Athletes also competed in the 10 km fun ride, which was open for all cyclists.
Cyclists from the Polokwane Pedallers Cycling Club (PPCC) who could not attend the race in Mokopane gathered at the Polokwane Game Reserve for a cycling practise that commemorated the DebtSafe Cansa MTB challenge.
According to Ronel Delport, PPCC president, cyclists started their practise session at around 05:00. “There are cyclists from PPCC who managed to go to Mokopane to honour the race.
“We are happy that some of our cyclists had the opportunity to ascend the stage to receive prizes for their hard work during the Debtsafe Cansa MTB challenge,” explained Delport.
DebtSafe has sponsored the event since 2013.
Hein du Plessis, managing director of DebtSafe, is personally involved in the Mokopane Cycling Club and he is passionate about promoting mountain biking as a sport.
“I believe this is the perfect sport for the whole family, because everybody can participate and people get fit while they enjoy nature,” he said.
