Lim Impalas trump KZN

The Limpopo Impala Cricket (LIC) team clashed against KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) in a 50-overs match at the Bain Lavers oval at Capricorn High School on Saturday.

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Impala Cricket (LIC) team clashed against KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) in a 50-overs match at the Bain Lavers oval at Capricorn High School on Saturday.

KZN won the toss and elected to bat. At first, LIC struggled to get any wickets and KZN had a opening partnership of 88 runs before Petri de Kock had a breakthrough with some excellent bowling.

Soon after, LIC proved how dominant their bowling can be, with KZN wickets tumbling left and right.

However, KZN put a rather competitive score of 216 all out on the board.

LIC captain, Theo Janse van Rensburg, and wicket keeper, Isaac Senetla, opened the batting but Senetla fell before he could really affect the score.

With wickets also starting to fall, LIC looked to be in some trouble but 18-year-old Morné Venter proved himself by hitting a total of 43 runs and also building a valuable partnership with De Kock.

LIC could not stop KZN’s dominant bowling and found themselves in the sticky situation of chasing three runs in one over with only one wicket left.

Leg-spinner Sahil Patel was up for the challenge and chased down the runs successfully giving LIC a win of 217/9 with only one wicket remaining.
