Fanie sets sights on Comrades
Fanie Matshipa, an athlete from Samancor Athletics Club, took first place in the recent Modern Autohaus BMW 4-in-1 42,2 km race in a time of 2:27:25.
POLOKWANE – “This year I plan on winning the Comrades Marathon.”
These were the words of Fanie Matshipa, an athlete from Samancor Athletics Club, after taking first place in the recent Modern Autohaus BMW 4-in-1 42,2 km race which was held at the Pietersburg Rugby Club near the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex on Saturday.
Matshipa finished the race in a time of 2:27:25.
Bonus spoke to him after the race on Saturday:
“The race was not tough at all, I really enjoyed it. The weather was also inconsequential because we are all experienced and elite runners. This year I plan on winning the Comrades Marathon (he came second in the 2011 Comrades Marathon). I have worked hard in preparation and I am determined to claim the win this year,” said a confident Matshipa.
