Impalas capped ahead of Cricket SA Rural Week

The Limpopo Impalas were honoured during a capping ceremony on Saturday evening after their defeat against Easterns on the Bain Lavers Oval at Capricorn High School.

POLOKWANE – The ceremony was held before the team left for the Cricket South Africa Rural Week, which begins in Kimberley this week. The team were capped by Limpopo Impala Cricket (LIC) members of the board, John Mogodi, Dawid Roodt, Lott Ramusi and Tjopta de Beer, who were present to show their support.

The team were also given kit bags to be used in Kimberley.

This is the first time in two years the Impalas have qualified for the Rural Week, and Mogodi said he is proud of the team for doing so as it is a way putting Limpopo cricket on the map.

Captain Theo Janse van Rensburg, who received a Captain’s blazer, also said a few words and thanked the board and LIC for all their support.

He also encouraged the rest of his teammates to do as well as they can.

“Let’s go to Kimberley and play some decent cricket.”

The team left on Tuesday evening and will play their first game on Thursday.
