Audrey’s endurance riders success at the 204 km Fauresmith
After a year of training and preparing for the endurance event of the year, Audrey's Riding School has done it again.
MOKOPANE – Not only Audrey Marais, but a complete team of riders went to the 204 km Fauresmith Endurance Ride and completed it successfully this year.
A total of 331 horses with their riders started this endurance ride, but only 188 crossed the finish line. This gruelling three day endurance ride has kept everyone working hard to ensure both rider and horse will be able to make it to the end.
Audrey, riding Arkab Azeer, Anja Eloff riding Arkab Tanzi and Sarie Pieters on the back of Amira, all represented the Limpopo team. Butch Grobbelaar also rode one of Audrey’s horses, Pula. In addition to Audrey and Arkab Azeer finishing successfully, the mare now also has a total of 1157 km without any disqualifications on her name. This is a huge achievement for the horse.
Team results:
Audrey and Arkab Azeer, finished in 17th place in the heavyweight class with an average speed of 17,71 km/h.
Anja and her mare, Arkab Tanzi, ended in 45th place in the standard weight class with an average speed of 17, 71 km/h.
Sarie and Amira, completed the 204 km ride, but did not qualify due to high heart rates.
Butch, on the back of Pula, finished in 55th place with an average speed of 16, 72 km/h.
The Limpopo team finished in 6th place overall which is a great achievement for the province as well.
