[VIDEO & PHOTOS] Tour de Limpopo thrills cycling fans in Polokwane

On the fourth and final day, riders had to tackle the road from Tzaneen back to Polokwane, where the race came to an end at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

POLOKWANE – Tour de Limpopo is a four-stage road race with a 2.2 UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) category rating. It took place from 15 to 18 May. It is a race that tests riders in different ways every year, with this year being no different.

Stage one saw the riders travel from the tour’s newly added destination, Bela-Bela, to Polokwane. Key features on the day included having sprint hotspots at 23 km; 63,3 km and 113 km. A distance of 172 km with an elevation gain of 1 353 m was covered.

The second stage had riders cover a distance of 96,6 km with an elevation gain of 1 381 m. Riders travelled from Polokwane and headed towards Tzaneen, with a sprint hotspot at the 26,6 km mark. During the third stage, the route took the riders from Tzaneen to the Coach House (Mt. Agatha).

A distance of 103 km with an elevation gain of 1 973 m was covered during this stage.

On the fourth and final day, riders had to tackle the road from Tzaneen back to Polokwane, where the race came to an end at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. The final stage’s route covered 116 km with an elevation gain of 1 976 m.
