Swimming is Junior’s lifelong dream

Junior Pheeha will be representing Limpopo in the Junior Swimming Championship later this year

POLOKWANE – For Junior Pheeha, swimming has been his passion since he was five years old, and today at age 14 this passion gave him the opportunity to assist in not only promoting the sport but he will be representing Limpopo in the Junior Swimming Championship later this year.

“I just jumped into the pool one day and have never stopped swimming,” he says.

He will represent Limpopo in the 100 m freestyle for boys u/14 and is looking forward to making his mark outside of the province.

“I love the fact that swimming is something that gives me the opportunity to be first,” Junior says.

He added that when he is in the water he leaves everything behind and it is just him and the water. He says that swimming is a sport where you never know what will happen from one moment to the next but this also makes it fun.

“I would like to see more people swim because it is a life skill,” he says.

During the championship he says he aims for gold to make himself and the people supporting him proud.

Besides swimming he enjoys soccer and cricket but his first love will always be swimming
