Local archers excel at competition

Two archers from Mokopane triumphed last weekend with a second and third place at the National Schools Archery Programme (NASP) competition, which was hosted at Mokopane English Combined School (MECS).

MOKOPANE – Banie van Tonder took second place in the adult archery group (AAG) with a score of 276, while Niel van Heerden from Hoërskool Piet Potgieter (HPP), took third place with a score of 280.

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought challenges for the archers and parents, as strict regulations had to be adhered to. As a result, parents watched the archer’s performance from outside the school grounds.

Archers from MECS, Hoërskool Piet Potgieter, Chrysalis Private School, Laerskool Krugerpark, EduCor and Impac Home School competed against the archers from Waterberg Academy in Vaalwater, Ellisras High School, Bosveld Primary School, Ellisras Primary School and Hardekool.
