Fundraiser in full swing at Polokwane Golf Club

Aces Cricket Club hosted a golf day at the Polokwane Golf Club last Thursday with the purpose to raise money to upgrade the local cricket facilities.

POLOKWANE – The teams that participated included the premium team, promo and the women’s team.

The secretary of Aces Cricket Club, Vanessa de Marre, told Polokwane Observer that the money raised will be used to upgrade especially the practise nets at Tom Naudé Technical High School since they are used most of the time by the team to practice. “This is to benefit not only Aces Cricket Club but also upcoming cricketers at the schools,” she said.

To make the day fun and memorable, the Aces Cricket Club included activities including:

• Shotgun: Everybody starts at the same time just at a different hole.

• Mulligans: Everyone buys a ticket for R100 and can use it should they need to get out of a ‘sticky situation’ on the golf course.

• Shootout: After everyone has played their 18 holes, they hold a ‘shootout’ competition selling tickets at R100 each.

Winners:

• First place: Noise Boys who won a microwave sponsored by Russells.

• Second place: Tom Naudé team who each won a gift voucher to the value of R750 sponsored by Eyecatchers.

• Third place: Mixed team who each won a hamper sponsored by RSA Group.

• Shootout winner received a printer sponsored by Nashua Limpopo.

Including expenses, the team managed to raise R28 000 on the day. “If there is anybody who would still like to make a donation they can contact me on 060 835 1999,” Vanessa said.
