Junior golfers prepare for interprovincial tournament

Young golfers affiliated to the Limpopo Golf Union are eager to win more silverware at the u/19 Inter-Provincial Boys Tournament scheduled for Kimberley on December 18-22.

POLOKWANE – The eight-man squad comprises Ruben Potgieter and Takalani Musandiwa from the Soutpansberg Golf Club, Amicus de Beer, Nwgako Ramoshaba, Johnathan Schulenburg and Arno Lombard from the Polokwane Golf Club, Anro Kotze from the Groblersdal Golf Club and Declan Brews from Kameeldoring Country Club.

They will battle it out for top honours against young golfers from other provinces.

Limpopo Golf Union president Thinus Labuschagne said the players will be able to win all the matches at the event. “We believe in the boys. It is a young team with a bright future. They have a ‘big match’ temperament and most of them have played in the IPT tournaments. They did well in numerous local tournaments. They played in the Polokwane Open, school league and junior open tournaments where they were phenomenal. We are confident that they will do well at the event.”

Hoërskool Pietersburg learner Arno Lombard said he is excited to be a part of the Limpopo golf team.

“It is an honour for me and I look forward to the event. I have played in a lot of local and national junior golf events and I think that I have learned a lot from those events and that knowledge will carry me through.”
