The initiative was designed to select players at semi level who will be representing their district at provincial level.

POLOKWANE – The Ngoako Ramahlodi Sports Complex served as the venue for the u/19 netball awareness programme featuring seven clusters of Polokwane on March 12.

The project was launched by the Department of Sport, to develop and equip players at cluster level.

Players from the seven clusters namely Polokwane, Seshego, Mankweng, Aganang, Moletsi, Sebayeng and Ga-Molepo displayed stunning performances on the courts.

Polokwane Netball Association’s deputy chairperson Rose Mamabolo said they took all the players from different clusters to see their potential.

“When we were approached with the initiative we were more than happy to join forces because the association already has structures established in the seven clusters. We are developing them at the local level so that when we go to nationals, they are well-prepared. Also, officials such as team managers, coaches, timekeepers and assistant coaches are scouted to be developed through the initiative.”

The initiative was designed to select players at semi level who will be representing their district at provincial level.

She added that the president of the South Africa Netball Association, Cecilia Molokwane worked hard to ensure that the World Cup is hosted in South Africa which is how the initiative of the awareness programme came about.
