Competitors from across the country converged in elite, intermediate, beginner, masters 40+ and teens categories, seeing the lowest weight lifted being 18kg and the highest by those competing in the elite category being up to 131kg.

The first winning team in the elite category, crowned King and Queen of the Bushveld for 2023, received a whopping share of R12 000 while those in first place for the beginners category received R6 000.

CrossFit Firebox co-founder with her husband, Franco, Janine Rabe encourages Polokwane residents to consider participating in such community building sport competitions to improve health as it is not solely intended for competitive athletes.

“You do not have to do CrossFit for a longtime to enter for a competition. You can do it for one day and still compete and even grow in the ranks,” she says.

Franco has shown special appreciation to the individual efforts of all sponsors who saw the event through its success.
