Noordelikes Rugby Club pays it forward

Mbata Mashamaite, captain for Westax Development Rugby Club said the sponsorship from Noordelikes will come in handy.

POLOKWANE – Noordelikes Rugby Club donated kit bags and replenishment bottles to Westax Development Rugby Club in Westenburg on August 30.

The club consists of talented rugby players from underprivileged homes in the area, who are in need of playing apparel and equipment to realise their full potential as rugby players.

The coach of the team, Kaizer Adams expressed their gratitude at the donation.

“We have a huge challenge with drugs and other social ills in this area. Rugby will save a lot of young people from those ills and we want to see young men and women in Westenburg using sport as an escape from those social challenges. This sponsorship will inspire players and give them hope, and their parents will see value in the sport because we have shown that we are able to attract reputable organisations as sponsors. We want parents to send their children here to come and play rugby, as it is not a dangerous sport. We are calling for corporates and private companies to come on board to help this young group of players to fulfil their rugby dreams. We still need funding and proper training facilities.”

Mbata Mashamaite, captain for Westax Development Rugby Club said the sponsorship from Noordelikes will come in handy.

“We need these kinds of sponsorships. We were struggling without kit bags and we are grateful to Noordelikes.”

Johan van Ravesteyn, the deputy president of Noordelikes Rugby Club said the sponsorship goes a long way in achieving their rugby development goals.

“We have constant interaction with the Westax Development Rugby Club. Their coach, Kaizer is one of the coaches at Noordelikes and they deserve this recognition. The club is doing well to develop rugby players in the area and we hope the players will appreciate the gesture.”
