Dezi Earle off to play in SA IPT tourney

Dezi Earle will be joined by fellow Limpopo female golfers at the South African IPT golf tournament.

LIMPOPO – Number one women’s golfer at the Polokwane Golf Club, Dezi Earle has been chosen to be part of the provincial female golf team that will represent the province at the South African IPT golf tournament set for Umhlahli in KwaZulu-Natal from October 1 to 6.

Earle was chosen following her successes at the Limpopo Open hosted by Limpopo Golf Union earlier this year.

She will be joined by Marne van der Merwe from Koro Kreek, Luzaan Combrink and Lavi Rand all from Thabazimbi Golf Club.

Earle has won many local golf tournaments among others including the 2014 Sanlam Cancer Challenge where she was named the national final overall and A-division winner.

Luzaan Combrink, player and manager of the Limpopo Female Golf team said they will compete against 10 female golf teams from various provinces at the event.

“The event will be played in a foursomes format in the morning; then it will take a single match play format in the afternoon. We want to win the event and form relations with other players. We have experience in Dezi, she is one of the golfers who has participated in the event for a number of years. Her experience will prevail during the event.”

Earle said she was happy to be part of the team and wanted to help the team win the major silverware.

“I am nervous but proud and honoured to be part of the provincial team. It is always a challenge to play in such tournaments because one is always up against top players. We will be against over 80 female golfers in the country and we are ready for the challenge.”
