Limpopo bodybuilder seeks venue for youth training sessions

Teen bodybuilder Mpho 'Muscle Beast' Ndou has taken it upon himself to train other youth in the area but needs proper space to host sessions in.

LIMPOPO – In an effort to take young boys off the streets, bodybuilder Mpho Muscle Beast Ndou recently organised a training session for boys from Ngwenani ya Ha-Mapholi village.

Many boys have joined him on this journey, which he said has reduced substance abuse on the local streets.

Although they train outside with no roof, he started with self-made concrete gym equipment in 2019.

“Our issue now has become shelter, as the weather changes a lot and the boys come to practice even when it’s raining. Then, I have to take the equipment into the house, but this is not an ideal solution,” said Ndou.

He said the highly disciplined sport means most athletes train and diet religiously for a year to get themselves in peak show condition.

“Bodybuilding is a true testimony of human greatness, of what we can achieve if we pour our hearts and souls into something that tests the sheer power of self-discipline. In the bodybuilding world, there is a distinct difference between recreational lifters and professional bodybuilders,” he said.

“I used to go to the gym for fun. But in 2019, I built my equipment using cement and started training for myself. Fitness is not just a trend, it’s a lifestyle. Maintaining a healthy body is the key to happiness. Just 30 minutes a day of physical activity can reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Incorporating exercise into your daily routine not only helps to improve physical fitness but mental health too. I make fitness a part of my daily routine by taking a short walk, doing some yoga, or even trying something new like dancing,” he concluded.
