Lineout raising trials for 2024 Noordelikes squad
Johan van Ravesteyn, the director of rugby and a coach at the club, said he was excited about the enthusiasm shown by players on the day.

POLOKWANE – More than 80 aspiring rugby players from Westenburg, Mankweng, Seshego and the city battled it out for a spot in the Noordelikes Rugby Club’s first team during the club trials held at the club’s rugby field on February 17.
The players pitted their skills against rugby players from the Louis Trichardt Rugby Club during the friendly match.

The match saw Louis Trichardt emerge as victors with a 25-15 score.
Adam Kaizer Adams, the head coach of the Noordelikes third team, said from the 80 players they will be selecting 25 who will form the Noordelikes Rugby Club teams this rugby season, which commences in April.

“The reason why we hosted trials is that we don’t want complacency in the team.
“We want players to pull up their socks and work hard for their places in the squad. No one owns a position in the team. We know the team has players who have been there in the previous season and we don’t want them to become complacent.

“We want healthy competition in the team. We wanted to give all the players a chance to prove themselves.
“This is also part of the efforts to grow and uplift the club.”

He added that the club will be playing in the James Tolmay rugby tournament at the Letaba rugby field on Saturday.
“We will be playing against NkowaNkowa, the University of Limpopo, Messina, Kruinies, Louis Trichardt and Letaba rugby clubs. The aim is to do well and win some of the matches.”

Adams said selected players from the players will be announced in due course.
Johan van Ravesteyn, the director of rugby and a coach at the club, said he was excited about the enthusiasm and commitment shown by players on the day.

“All went well. The players played and we need everyone in the team.
“We will be playing week in, week out, and not everyone will be available. We need a big squad.”
