Magezi FC promoted to PSL

Club spokesperson Abel Rakoma attributes achievements to the discipline, stability and focus instilled by the technical team.

POLOKWANE – Magezi Football Club has been promoted to the Premier Soccer League after thrashing Milford Football Club 3-1 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on May 5.

Wonderboy Makhubo scored a brace for Magezi while Edmore Chirimandare scored the third goal for the team in the second half.

This is the first time Magezi accrue status in the top flight of South African football since its establishment in 2011.

Some of the achievements include winning the Limpopo Stream of the 2021/22 Safa second division and earning promotion to the 2022/23 national first division in the playoffs, getting to the final where they lost 1-0 to MM Platinum.

Coach Clinton Larsen attributed the team’s success to the players and the technical staff.

“I want to thank the players and technical staff for a job well done. The support from the chairperson has been amazing. There was no interference from him throughout the season. We worked well as a team and we are looking forward to the next season.”

Abel Rakoma, club spokesperson said they could not have achieved what they had, had it not been for the discipline, stability and focus instilled by the technical team.

“Everyone knew their responsibilities. We laid a solid foundation as a team. The players worked well with the coach. We also want to thank our supporters who have been with us from day one, singing, ululating and chanting for us during our matches. We value their support and we will continue doing them proud in the PSL next season.”

Rakoma said the PSL will hand them their trophy on May 19 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium after their match against the Venda Football Club.

“We will receive the trophy after the match. We are planning to have a parade in Moletjie, Polokwane, Mankweng and Seshego to share the success with our supporters.”
