Over R1m raised for bursaries at Mayoral Golf Day

The contributions and pledges made by sponsors, companies and individuals will go towards learners who cannot afford tertiary education.

POLOKWANE – Over R1m was raised for the bursary fund from pledges made at the Polokwane Mayoral Charity Golf Day that was played at the Polokwane Golf Club on May 3.

The top contributors were led by Maloka Surfacing, who pledged R300 000 and The Ranch Resort who pledged R100 000.

The R1m does not include the money raised as part of the sponsorship packages. An auction was also held, which raised over R300 000.

Mpe said the proceeds will benefit the less privileged in the city and surrounds. “The golf event is a testament to our commitment of giving back to the community.
