Vhembe’s Wavhudi Gymnastics Club win provincial championship
Despite not having the same facilities as other teams, Wavhudi Gymnastics Club has not let that hinder their progress.
LIMPOPO – The Wavhudi Gymnastics Club from Vhembe made a triumphant return from the provincial gymnastics championships held in Lephalale on Saturday, finishing the tournament as victors.
This victory qualifies them to represent Limpopo in the national tournament on June 14-15 in Pretoria.
The team’s coach, Angel Mulaudzi, expressed immense pride in her team’s accomplishments.
“We knew we would be the winners,” she said. “Our winning formula is simple: practice, practice, and more practice!” According to Mulaudzi, the team had been preparing diligently for a long time, and their hard work paid off. We are celebrating success that comes from hard work,” she added, noting that although they had entered the provincial championship as underdogs, they emerged as champions.
She is confident they will achieve similar success at the national level.
Mulaudzi, who took over as head coach two years ago, attributes their achievements to a collective effort and players’ commitment.
“Our success is due to the dedication and spirit of the players, who are eager to play and give their best for the team,” she explained.
Despite not having the same facilities as other teams, Wavhudi Gymnastics Club has not let that hinder their progress.
Mulaudzi also emphasised the importance of balancing sport with education.
“Sport without education is nothing. You can be a star today and forgotten tomorrow. Education will never forsake you; it’s something you can always rely on,” she advised.
She encouraged young athletes to look up to their role models, whether they are educated or not.
Asked about their readiness for the national tournament, Mulaudzi confidently stated that they have what it takes to be crowned national champions.
“We are going to prove all the critics wrong. Our participation in the national championship is not by default,” she asserted.
The Wavhudi Gymnastics Club is poised to demonstrate their prowess on a larger stage, showcasing their dedication and hard work as they aim for national glory.
