PEPPS’ Bokang made captain for Limpopo boys hockey

Bokang Mothapo has been elected captain of the u/18B Limpopo boys hockey team and is ready to excel as both a student and an athlete.

POLOKWANE – Bokang Mothapo, a Gr 11 learner at PEPPS Polokwane College, has been elected captain of the u/18B Limpopo boys hockey team. Ready to embrace the responsibilities of his new role, Mothapo reflects on his journey from a casual player to a dedicated athlete.

Starting hockey in Gr 9, he initially viewed the sport as a pastime.

“At first, hockey was just another sport that I played to pass the time. However, over the years of participating, I started to enjoy it more every time I had the chance to play. I now consider it one of my favourite sports,” he told Review.

This marks his first selection for the Limpopo team, a milestone that he regards as a significant achievement.

Eager to lead his team both on and off the astro, Mothapo emphasises the importance of communication, setting a positive example and maintaining a confident and motivating presence.

“I will be leading with motivation and accountability,” he added. His vision is to make a lasting impact on his teammates through strong leadership and guidance.

Balancing academics and athletics in Gr 11, a pivotal year in his education, Mothapo has mastered time management. In addition to hockey, he plays soccer and schedules his practices meticulously.

On Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, he alternates between hockey and soccer. On non-practice days, he focuses on schoolwork.

“Even on those days where I practice, I do school work after. I just take a nap, then wake up and work,” he explained.

Mothapo’s dedication and strategic approach to balancing his commitments demonstrate his readiness to excel as both a student and an athlete.
