Noordelikes and Letaba battle it out

In nail-biting matches, the teams showcased impressive skills and sportsmanship with Noordelikes' second team captain praising his their hard work.

POLOKWANE – Noordelikes Rugby Club hosted Letaba Rugby Club on Saturday, with family and friends filling the stands to support.

Simpson Mawasha, Noordelikes’ second team captain and rugby coach at HTS Tom Naudé, shared the team’s excitement with Polokwane Observer ahead of their match.

“Our team always looks forward to playing against other teams. We are grateful to our coaches for their hard work. Our second team coach, Hendrik van Jaarsveldt, constantly encourages us to never give up. With the mentorship from both our first and second team coaches, team captains are able to lead in the right direction, giving us the courage to perform at our best in each game,” he said.

Mawasha, who has been playing rugby for the past 20 years and who was appointed as the second team captain at the start of the season in February, expressed his gratitude to their sponsor, CapriCom Networks, for their continuous support.

Leroy Ndlovu, the captain of Noordelikes’ first team, praised all the teams for their impressive performances.

“Well done to everyone for their hard work, and congratulations to all the winners.”

Noordelikes’ second team triumphed over Letaba with 24-15, while Letaba’s first team took the spoils in a closely contested first-team match with a final score of 34-32.
