Limpopo sports MEC leads health walk with his employees

The health walk aims to promote a healthy lifestyle among employees with the department encouraging others to join.

POLOLKWANE – The MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture Jerry Maseko led a departmental health walk on July 17 aimed at encouraging a healthy lifestyle among his employees.

Maseko together with his colleagues walked from their headquarters to Peter Mokaba Sport Complex.

Departmental Spokesperson Jermina Kaka said hospitals are full because of people who are suffering from lifestyle diseases and that the department believes with regular exercise, they can curb those diseases.

“We don’t want to see anyone at hospitals. We want to see people walking and running because those activities have health benefits. We must become a walking nation and we would like to see employees from various departments and traditional leaders joining us.”

Maseko also met with all representatives of professional soccer outfits plying trade in the Premier Soccer League.

This includes Magesi FC, Polokwane City FC and Sekhukhune United to forge relations and partnership in the coming football season.

“I’m humbled by these businessmen who took time off their busy schedule to come discuss our partnership and prospects of development as far as soccer is concerned in our province,” said Maseko during the meeting.
