Leopards and Hungry Lions share spoils after stalemate

Black Leopards FC and Hungry Lion FC played to a 1-1 draw in their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match at Thohoyandou Stadium.

LIMPOPO – In their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match played at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday, Black Leopards FC and Hungry Lion FC fought to a 1-1 draw.

The game unfolded at a frantic pace, with both teams creating and squandering scoring opportunities.

Hungry Lion dominated possession in the first 15 minutes, while Leopards struggled to keep up.

Lions centre back Kagiso Ndlovu received the first yellow card for an intentional handball.

Realising the need for a more offensive approach, the Lions coach substituted a midfielder to support the strikers. This tactical shift paid off when Tshepang Selemogo scored, putting Lions ahead.

Leopards, however, equalised just before halftime, with Tsepo Matsimbi finding the net in the 39th minute, leaving the score at 1-1.

Early in the second half, Leopards striker Farai Augusto was cautioned for a late tackle. In response, the Leopards made three substitutions, bringing on Amukelani Chauke, Freddy Mathole, and Mwape Musonda. This change revitalised Leopards, allowing them to take control in midfield.

In the 78th minute, Musonda came close to scoring but shot wide with the goal at his mercy.
