Junior golfers tee off in Polokwane tournament

The Polokwane Junior Open Golf Tournament drew enthusiastic young golfers to Polokwane Golf Club.

POLOKWANE – The annual Polokwane Junior Open Golf Tournament, hosted over two days in the city, was well supported as young golfers pitched in their numbers to show off their skills and to ultimately be crowned as victorious in their respective categories.

The event was sanctioned by the Limpopo Golf Union and hosted at the Polokwane Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.

According to local golf coach Mike Baylis, the event was an overall success with minor hiccups.

“Players competed for various trophies such as overall champion, girl champion, champion nett and short course champion. They played in categories u/10 (short course), u/13, u/16 and u/19.”

Baylis thanked the 18 sponsors who helped to make the day possible. “All players were awarded with nice giveaways,” he concluded.
