PAC celebrates 40 years of friendship, fitness, and community

Polokwane Athletics Club celebrates running excellence and community spirit with anniversary event, honouring founders and leaders.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Athletics Club (PAC) marked its 40th anniversary with an elegant celebration at Fusion Boutique Hotel last Wednesday.

The evening brought together members to reflect on four decades of running, friendship and happy kilometres. Guests arrived in formal attire, enjoying refreshments and a photoshoot to capture the special occasion before being seated for the event.

PAC chairperson Thabana Mokgohloa delivered a poignant speech, paying tribute to the founders and leaders who built the club’s solid foundation.

“The pictures displayed tonight tell stories of shared memories. This celebration honours the remarkable year we’ve had and the 40 years that have made us who we are. Without the vision and dedication of our founders and past leaders, we wouldn’t be here today,” he said.

Mokgohloa also highlighted the importance of leadership, urging current leaders to serve with purpose and dedication, ensuring the continued growth of the club.

The event, attended by 142 of the planned 150 guests, was a resounding success, showcasing PAC’s enduring community spirit. Guests enjoyed a three-course meal, and an awards ceremony recognised members for their dedication and achievements over the past year. Mokgohloa expressed gratitude to the club’s sponsors and partners, whose support made the celebration possible.

In his closing remarks, Mokgohloa encouraged members to take pride in their affiliation with the club and remain committed to its legacy. “The founders laid a strong foundation, and it’s our responsibility to sustain and build upon it. Together, we can continue to grow this prestigious club.”
