Limpopo schools unite for thrilling summer games

Learners from across Limpopo's districts gathered for the schools summer games, showcasing their skills in sports like rugby, tennis, and volleyball.

POLOKWANE – The Departments of Education, and Sport hosted the schools’ summer games on November 30.

Learners from various districts including Capricorn, Vhembe, Sekhukhune, Waterberg and Mopani participated in rugby, tennis, volleyball and gymnastics, among others.

“I play rugby because the school that I went to used to criticise rugby so I want to set an example that rugby is not only for high-standard schools or big and strong people but for anyone who wants to play. Sport can be beneficial because one can even work towards a scholarship overseas,” said a learner, Bohlale Mokwena.

During the games, the best players were selected to form a group that will attend the National Summer Games in Pretoria on December 13-16.

One of the learners, Gomolemo Matlala said he believes in volleyball more than any other sport.

“Volleyball is in my blood and I believe that I can go very far, I see myself as one of the best volleyball star players in the next few years.”
