Potties Athletic Club awards top runners

Potties Athletic Club honours top runners at annual prize-giving ceremony, recognising achievements in Comrades Marathon, club challenges, and more.

MOKOPANE – Potties Athletic Club awarded their top runners during the club’s annual prize-giving ceremony held on December 14.

Ahead of the ceremony, the club’s athletes took to the streets for a last club run for the year. After their morning run, the athletes met at the Park Hotel for a lovely breakfast and the prize-giving.

The award for sports person of the year went to Khomotso Mashishi who competed in her first Comrades Marathon this year, and a few 42km runs.

Other Awards:

Lesiba Letaha – fastest male Comrades athlete.
Viola Mashigo – vasbyter of the year.
Stephan Ferreira – most improved athlete.
Mogabe Mashishi – toilet roll trophy and the chairperson’s trophy.
Khomotso Mashishi – the most km’s for the club challenge, with a total of 1 469km.
Cecilia Ferreira – most hardworking club member appreciation trophy.
Most time trial – first place – Cecilia Ferreira, second place – Stephan Ferreira, third place – Khomotso Mashishi.
Most club runs for the year – first – Khomotso Mashishi, second – Cecilia Ferreira, third – Stephan Ferreira.
Most races for the year – first – Sarie Coetzee, second – Cecilia Ferreira, third – Stephan and Andrea Ferreira.
1 000km challenge – Khomotso Mashishi, Sarie Coetzee, Cecilia Ferreira, Lesiba Letaha, Andrea Ferreira, Stephan Ferreira, Andre Steinnman, Daleen van Zyl and Viola
Mashigo.
