Yin-Yang karate studio hosts annual prize-giving

Yin-Yang Karate and Self Defence Studio recently recognised and honoured its top karatekas for their hard work and dedication.

POLOKWANE – Yin-Yang Karate and Self Defence Studio hosted their annual prize-giving at the Zurel College Campus dojo in December.

The karatekas were awarded for their hard work during the past year.

“The cream of the crop and the best of the best were rewarded,” sensei Annatjie de Jager said.

“All karatekas of the dojo hit merit certificates for participating in gradings and competitions. A great thanks to Brian Tiltman of Zurel College and the CEO Shikara Maharaj for their support during the past two years. Most importantly, a special thanks to the Polokwane Observer and Review team for their support, without you guys, the success wouldn’t have been possible.”

Results for 2024:

• Most disciplined karateka – Neo Semenya.
• Best progress – Jeffrey Netshikweta.
• Best junior karateka – Neo Semenya.
• Best senior karateka – Lwafika Nonjojo.
• Most improved karateka – Richard Tiltman.
• Best performance competition kata – sensei Zainab Hurzuk.
• Best performance competition kumite – Lwafika Nonjojo.
• Best karateka in grading junior – Hynek Potgieter.
• Best karateka in grading senior – sensei Wickus Villoen.
• Fittest karateka – senpai Zuan de Bruin.
• Best performance overall during competition – sensei Zainab Hurzuk.
• Karateka of the month – Janice de Bruin.
• Pee-wee of the year – Radka Potgieter.
• Most supportive family of the year – Jannie and Gerda Janse van Vuuren as well as Denise de Bruin.
• Karateka of the year – Lwafika Nonjojo.
