Limpopo Sport Awards honours Special Olympics volunteer
Samuel Maduwa was honoured for his exceptional volunteer work with the Special Olympics, receiving R25 000 and a trophy.
LIMPOPO – Samuel Maduwa, a dedicated volunteer with the Special Olympics, was awarded for his exceptional service, during the annual Limpopo Sport Awards held at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World in Polokwane on Saturday.
He received R25 000 and a trophy in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the Special Olympics.
The event, which celebrated the achievements of athletes and teams across the province, aims to honour those who excel on and off the field.
During the ceremony, Sport MEC Jerry Maseko, remarked that it is important to recognise athletes within their own communities.
He encouraged the recipients to use their talents not only to excel nationally but to seek international recognition too.
Maseko praised the athletes for their hard work and urged them to continue using sport as a platform for personal and community transformation.
“Whether you win or not, you are important citizens in this province and in the sport fraternity,” he said.
Maduwa, reflecting on the event, shared his belief that Limpopo is a hub for emerging stars.
He encouraged young people to participate in sport and praised the athletes honoured at the national level. Additionally, Maduwa called for greater inclusion of disabled individuals in sports and society, urging communities to embrace them and reject the abuse of people with disabilities for financial gain.
