Black Leopards coach makes an exit

Head coach Zeca Marques has unexpectedly resigned, ending his brief stint with the club just months after joining in February 2025.

LIMPOPO – Black Leopards head coach Zeca Marques officially resigned last Wednesday, marking the end of his short tenure with the club.

Marques had joined the team in February, but after just a few months, he parted ways with the club.

The chairperson of Black Leopards, Tshifhiwa Thidiela confirmed the resignation and acknowledged the amicable nature of their separation. “It was not easy to say goodbye to a coach of his calibre,” he said, recognising Marques as a good coach who made a significant contribution during his time at the club.

With Marques’ departure, the team will be temporarily led by assistant coaches Joel Masutha and Abel Makhubela, who will serve as caretakers for the time being.

Leopards are preparing for a tough upcoming match against Baroka FC at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

Caretaker coach Joel Masutha remains confident about the team’s prospects despite the challenges.

“We are still on course to finish in the top three of the league, but we need to win at least five of our remaining seven matches,” Masutha stated. He also warned Baroka FC to not underestimate the strength of Black Leopards, particularly their attacking trio of Donald Mudau, Bethuel Muzeu and Mwape Musonda, who have the potential to create chaos for opposing defenders.
