Polokwane Parkrun celebrates 10th anniversary

Polokwane Parkrun celebrated its 10th anniversary with fun runs, awards, and community spirit, recognising dedicated participants and volunteers.

POLOKWANE – Polokwane’s Parkrun recently marked a significant milestone as it celebrates its 10th anniversary on April 11.

The event, which started in 2015, has become a staple for the community, and this year’s anniversary celebration was filled with excitement and appreciation for all involved.

To mark the occasion, the club recognised outstanding members who have played a key role in ensuring the continued success of the Parkrun. In keeping with the celebratory spirit, participants added a fun twist by dressing up for the event.

Some even participated in a unique challenge, running with a balloon and keeping it afloat throughout the race for a chance to win a prize.

Joggie Kruger, Johan van Graan and Allan Johnson participated in over 1000 Parkruns together.

The Mokone family received special recognition, winning a trophy for their dedication as volunteers, always stepping in when needed.

Coen Engelbrecht and Naomi Labuschagne were honoured with trophies as the men’s and women’s winners of the year, respectively, acknowledging their exceptional performances.

After the formalities, participants enjoyed a celebratory treat of cake and cold drinks, rounding off a day of fun and community spirit.
