32 Vhembe teams gear up for Easter tourney

The Talelani Liguluvhele Easter Tournament returns, featuring 32 teams, cash prizes, and PSL legend appearances.

LIMPOPO – All is set for the second edition of the Talelani Liguluvhele Easter Tournament, scheduled to take place from April 18-26 at Skomboys and Blackpool grounds in Ramantsha.

The tournament will feature 32 teams from across Vhembe, all affiliated with Safa Vhembe and the Makhado Local Football Association.

Tournament chairperson Rendani Mutheiwana highlighted the importance of nurturing young talent at grassroots level, saying that sport plays a vital role in keeping youths away from crime, drugs and alcohol abuse.

This year’s champions will walk away with R50 000, a floating trophy, gold medals, a ball, and a new soccer kit. The runners-up will receive R20 000, silver medals, a soccer kit, and a ball.

The teams finishing in third and fourth will each receive R7 000.

Individual awards will also be handed out for top goal scorer, player of the tournament, defender of the tournament, midfielder of the tournament, young player of the tournament and coach of the tournament – all of whom will receive cash prizes and trophies.

Adding extra excitement to the final day, a match between PSL legends and local legends will take place before the main final.

Stars like Happy Jele, Tsepo Masilela, Morgan Gould and Reneilwe Letsholonyane are expected to feature.

Competing teams include Manavhela Black Aces, Midoroni United, Maebane Soccer Academy, Makhitha Iyarunga, Madodonga United, Ramantsha Blackpool, Gogobole Bucs, Tshiozwi Mates, Madombidzha Congo XI, Magau United, Univen FC, Matanda Rockers, Thohoyandou Bayern, Benny’s Care, Mamaila Happy Boys, Muraleni United and others.
