Rotary Pietersburg hosts successful charity golf day

The Rotary Club held its annual charity golf day at Polokwane Golf Club, with 136 players teeing off to support community initiatives.

POLOKWANE – The annual Rotary Club of Pietersburg 100 Tee Off for Charity Golf Day was once again a successful event hosted at the Polokwane Golf Club on Friday.

Players pitched in their numbers to support the event and in return give back to the community.

The day catered for social players as well as the more serious golfers who had their eyes on awesome prizes that were up for grabs.

The competition was hosted in a two-ball better ball format which saw Kenneth Lachenicht and JG Duvenhage claiming overall victory with a score of 48 count-in. Shaun Mouton and Pieter Meintjies finished second with a score of 48 count-out, with Paul Venter and Wayne Burger in third place with a score of 47 point count-in.

Prizes were also allocated to other achievers:

  • Ladies longest drive on the 18th hole – Debbie Mouton.
  • Longest drive on the second hole – Shaun Mouton.
  • Nearest to the pin on the fourth hole – Paul Shearer.
  • Nearest to the pin on the eighth hole – Willie de Jager.
  • Nearest to the pin on the 11th hole – Niko Koster.
  • Nearest to the pin on the 16th hole – Benjamin Mathebula.
  • Nearest to the pin for two on the ninth hole – Shaun Mouton.
  • Nearest to the pin for two on the 14th hole – Quintin Prinsloo.

According to the organiser, Danie Bouwer, the day was a huge success with 136 players supporting the event. “The field was full. We would like to thank our sponsors, without them the day would not have been such a big success. It was a tremendous success, and we will do it again next year,” he said.
