Oyama Karate hosts pre-grading gashuku in Seshego

The Oyama School of Karate hosted a pre-grading gashuku in Seshego, training 40 students in kihon, kata and tournament execution.

POLOKWANE – The Oyama School of Karate hosted its second pre-grading gashuku on August 16 at Masedibu High School in Seshego.

The event, led by shihan Collen Sedoaba (fifth dan), shihan James Sithole (fifth dan) and sensei Bongani Mkhwanazi (third dan), drew around 40 students from Seshego and Polokwane. Training focused on kihon (basics) and kata (formatted fighting).

Sensei Bongani Mkhwanazi and Senpai Eric Matsetel have a successful session.

Shihan Collen worked with the juniors, stressing the importance of correct technique, while shihan James guided the seniors on kata precision and sensei Bongani drew on his national-level experience to provide insights on tournament execution.

The intensive four-hour session concluded with shihan James presenting instructors with lessons on weapon kata. Sensei Peter Malatji closed the event by thanking the school principal and parents for their ongoing support.
