Rider Muleba calls for rematch after TKO defeat
Female boxer Rider Muleba has demanded a rematch after losing to Bernice Ferreira by TKO in Middelburg, claiming the referee was unfair.
LIMPOPO – Female boxer Rider Muleba has called for a rematch against Bernice Ferreira, who defeated her by technical knockout (TKO) in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, on September 27.
The bout, scheduled for six rounds, lasted only three. From the start it was clear Muleba was under pressure, with Ferreira launching relentless attacks. The referee eventually stopped the contest in the third round after Ferreira landed a powerful punch that floored Muleba.
Ferreira dominated most of the fight with her aggressive approach, leaving Muleba little room to recover.
The opening round, however, offered some drama when Ferreira went down from a strong punch, forcing the referee to administer a four-count. Ferreira quickly rose, regained her composure, and began to take control.
By the third round, she was landing decisive blows from all angles, which forced the stoppage.
After the fight, Muleba expressed dissatisfaction with the referee’s handling of the match. “I slipped once, and the referee didn’t count. She stopped the fight immediately. When my opponent fell down, the referee counted to four, but for me she didn’t count,” she argued. Muleba insisted that she had been “cheated” and demanded an immediate rematch.
Ferreira, on the other hand, dismissed the controversy and said she would be ready to face Muleba again if required.
“It was a pound-for-pound fight where I showed my jabbing skills and professionalism. I have defended my title, and that’s it,” Ferreira said.
