High-stakes showdown as Black Leopards face Baroka FC

Black Leopards face Baroka FC as both sides push for vital Motsepe Foundation Championship points.

LIMPOPO – Black Leopards will take on Baroka FC at the Mafori Stadium in Lebowakgomo in one of the Motsepe Foundation Championship League matches that will be played on Saturday afternoon.

Leopards push for promotion

The new coach of Black Leopards, Mabhuti Khanyeza, is optimistic that nothing will stop them from collecting the full points at stake against Baroka.

He said that everyone in their camp was aware of the fact that giving away vital points to Baroka will adversely affect their mission to win the league title or to partake in the promotional playoffs at the end of the season.

Asked how he viewed his team’s chances of gaining promotion to the elite league with the current squad, Khanyeza said that they had a lot of talent in their camp.

Khanyeza said his plan was to win as many home matches as possible and grab at least one point away.

He added that he would not have accepted the job offer if winning the league title were beyond reach.

Baroka aim to maintain form

Baroka are in the right frame of mind, following their 1 all draw against Leicestford City in their last league game.

Lidoda Duvha, on the other hand, were beaten 0-1 by VFC last Saturday.

Another Vhembe team, Venda Football Club, will welcome Kruger United on Saturday at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

VFC look to rise on the log

VFC are still fresh from collecting maximum points from Black Leopards, while Kruger beat Casric Stars 3-2. Head coach Clinton Larsen remains optimistic, stating that nothing will stand in their way of collecting maximum points.

Larsen said his primary goal was to lift the team out of the relegation zone before the conclusion of the first round league fixtures. VFC are currently in position 9 of the log with 17 points from 12 matches.

He, however noted that a move to fourth place was possible if they win their next two games.
