Polokwane Golf Club hosts junior open tournament
Seventy-one young golfers competed in the Polokwane Golf Club Junior Open, showcasing talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship across the province.
POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Golf Club Junior Open was played last Friday, drawing 71 young golfers to the Polokwane Golf Club for a full day of competition.
Players aged between eight and 18 competed in a stroke-play format, with juniors from across the province taking part. Tournament organiser Mike Baylis thanked all the sponsors for ensuring every participant walked away with a prize.
He also expressed gratitude to the Limpopo Golf Union for their support, as well as the South African Golf Development Board for its ongoing work in developing young golfers nationwide.
Baylis further acknowledged Polokwane Golf Club president Aaron Segwapa for his consistent backing of junior golf.
Segwapa, in turn, thanked Baylis for his efforts in growing the sport among young players.
“Golf starts at your age, and it is a golden opportunity. If you miss it now, you’ve missed it. Thank you to all the players for coming out and playing 36 holes,” he said.

• Short course champion: Tristan Leeb.
