Cosafa Women’s Championship 2026 kicks off in Polokwane

Polokwane will host the Hollywoodbets Cosafa Women’s Championship 2026 from February 18 to March 1, with 11 Southern African teams competing.

POLOKWANE – The city is gearing up to host teams from across Southern Africa for the Hollywoodbets Cosafa Women’s Championship 2026, set to run from February 18 – March 1.

The tournament draw was held in the city last Wednesday, placing hosts Banyana Banyana in group A, where they will face Malawi, Lesotho and Angola.

Now in its 13th edition, the championship is expected to shine a spotlight on women’s football while also boosting local business activity and temporary job opportunities.

A total of 11 countries will take part. Group B features Zambia, Botswana, Eswatini and Zimbabwe, while Mozambique, Namibia and Madagascar make up group C.

Matches will be played across three venues: the old Peter Mokaba Stadium, new Peter Mokaba Stadium and Seshego Stadium.

For several teams, including South Africa, Zambia and Malawi, the tournament will also serve as preparation for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for March 17 to April 3.

Beyond regional bragging rights, the competition also carries high stakes, with teams battling for semi-final qualification spots linked to the 2027 Fifa Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
