POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Fencing Association (LFA) hosted its third provincial competition of the year recently, bringing together fencers from five clubs for a day of fast-paced competition and sportsmanship.

A total of 93 entries were recorded, with athletes from across the province taking to the piste.

For experienced competitors, the event provided an opportunity to improve their provincial rankings, while for others it marked a significant milestone as they competed in their first-ever tournament.

The competition featured exciting bouts throughout the day, with every match contributing to competitors’ rankings and experience.

While some fencers celebrated hard-earned victories, others gained valuable lessons that come with competitive sport.

Talent on the rise, says LFA chairperson

LFA chairperson Dr Renuka Ramroop said every participant left the competition with experience that would contribute to their development.

“The talent on display was wonderful to watch, and we look forward to seeing these young fencers develop as they progress through the age categories,” he said.

She congratulated all the competitors on their commitment and performances, adding that the strong turnout reflected the growing interest in fencing across Limpopo and the association’s continued efforts to develop both new and experienced athletes.

“A huge well done to all the athletes and their clubs,” Ramroop said.
