POLOKWANE – More than 2 000 bikers participated in the annual Sapa Yopa Motorcycle Club rally on Saturday.
The bikers gathered at the Polokwane showgrounds and rode as a group to Mall of the North, where food parcels and toys and other goodies were handed over to representatives of different charity organisations in the province.
The rally was part of Sapa Yopa’s fifth anniversary celebration.
Lehlogonolo Masoga, the MEC for roads and transport was part of the mass ride.
“The department supports Sapa Yopa’s initiative and appreciates the good work they do when it comes to charity. From today going forward, the department will ensure Sapa Yopa is part of our programme, especially during the launch of our Arrive Alive campaign.
“Together we will reduce bike fatalities on our roads,” Masoga said.
He said Sapa Yopa started as “a bunch of chancers”, but they are now a big brand all over the province, South Africa and the Southern African Development Community.
