POLOKWANE gospel artist, Mokgadi Sebati, did the city proud by winning the award for best music video at the Ingoma Awards that was held at Wits University two weeks ago.

Sebati’s hit song, Kebo Meno Masue, beat five other finalists in this category to take the Best Video award.

The talented singer, who is a member of the ZCC, told CV that winning this award boosted her confidence. “I am looking forward to compose more songs and to preach the gospel throug music. I am dreaming of being a nominee in the SABC Crown Gospel Awards and the South African Traditional Music Awards,” she said.

“Thank you to God for eveything. I also want to thank my husband, Piet, my daughters, Naledi and Ntshebele, my fans and my colleagues at work for believing in me. I really don’t know how to thank my soldiers, my backing vocalists, Sello Molea, Lethabo Moloto, Mashole Sebati and Chuene Moloto for their courage on stage,” said Sebati.

Dan Raseluma, founder of the Ingoma Awards, said the event serves as the face and voice of upcoming and independent gospel community.

He said the awards were dedicated to exposing, promoting and celebrating new talent through recognition.
