French treat at mall

Mall of the North shoppers were treated to a surprise performance by French gospel group, Grenoble Gospel Singers on Saturday.

POLOKWANE – Mall of the North shoppers were treated to a surprise performance by French gospel group, Grenoble Gospel Singers on Saturday.

The group visited Johannesburg last week before heading to the city, where they performed at various churches, as well as Mitchell House.

Their visit formed part of the Building Bridges Gospel Tour.

“This was a big surprise. I was just walking along when suddenly the group started to sing and dance. It was very nice,” said one of the shoppers, Karabo Mamikie.

Daniel Swart also agreed that it was a lovely surprise. “It is not something you see everyday. Their voices are beautiful.”

René van der Merwe, marketing manager at Mall of the North, said she did not know what to expect from the group’s visit, but was happy it was so enjoyable.

Rob Lavis, one of the organisers of the performance thanked Van der Merwe for opening up the mall to them. “It really means a lot to us,” he said.
