POLOKWANE – Precious Khoza (20) from Seshego has been chosen as a Miss Commonwealth South Africa 2014 finalist.
Precious is now one of the top 20 and will be competing for the crown in Johannesburg on August 29.
The pageant is aimed at empowering women with the knowledge of how to bring about change within needy communities.
The winner will represent South Africa at the international pageant in London in November.
Through the commonwealth pageants, a platform is created for women of all ages to become charity and culture ambassadors within South Africa and the broader international community. The titleholders become involved in charitable causes and uphold the aims and objectives of the commonwealth. This includes racial harmony, poverty eradication and cultural cohesion.
Precious started modelling in 2012 and has, in such a short time, already made her mark in the modelling industry. She says she was encouraged by her community to become involved in modelling. “People always asked me if I was a model and when I asked them why they thought so, they would say that I was naturally beautiful and could go far in modelling,” she explains.
Precious has competed in various pageants and won the titles of Miss Personality Mpumalanga and Miss Summer BT 2014. She has also been a Miss Mpumalanga Model Search finalist, and a Face of Sheer Elegance top five finalist, just to mention a few.
She will be taking part in the South Africa Models Cup pageant in Gauteng on Saturday.
She is currently studying towards a degree in Safety Management.
The pageant judges include Marilyn Ramos, Miss South Africa 2012, Isidingo actor Stephen van Niekerk, television presenter Nadia Beukes, dancer and seasoned pageant judge Adéle Loots and current president for the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa, Solly Moeng.
