Automatic version joins i10 range

THE popular i10 model range of Hyundai Automotive South Africa has been expanded to five derivatives with the addition of the 1.1 Motion, with its four-speed automatic gearbox and a list of features that will make this newcomer in the i10 stable a firm favourite among city commuters, says the Korean auto maker.

With a measured fuel consumption of a mere 5,7 litres per 100km from its 1 086cc petrol engine, this new small hatchback in the local Hyundai line-up could stretch one’s fuel budget even further than other models.

Armed with the same 1 086cc four cy-linder engine of its manual sibling, the automatic 1.1 Motion feeds the power to the front wheels through a four-speed automatic gearbox with well-spread ratios to make it an easy small hatchback to drive and even easier to manoeuvre in the city.

It has the same automatic gearbox found in the i10 1.25 Fluid version.

The i10 1.1 Motion automatic shares the extensive list of features found in the 1.1 Motion manual derivative, including Bluetooth connectivity for telephone calls and streaming music through the audio system, which includes MP3 and CD playing abilities.

Other features are:

• An air-conditioner with an anti-bacterial pollen filter;

• Fog lights in front;

• Electrically adjustable and heated side mirrors;

• Electrically winded windows all round, and

• intermittent function for windscreen wipers.

Under the exterior with body-coloured bumpers, door handles and side mirrors is a suspension system that consists of MacPherson struts in front and a coupled torsion beam axle with coil springs at the rear.

The steering is a motor driven power assisted rack and pinion system which makes the i10 a pleasure to drive with solid road-holding and predictable road handling capabilities.

For the driver’s comfort the steering wheel can tilt up or down. Remote controls on the three-spoke steering wheel make adjustment of the audio system easy and safe without the driver to move its hands from the wheel. The driver’s seat is also height adjustable to find the most comfortable driving position possible.

The Hyundai i10 1.1 Motion automatic runs on 165/60 R14 tyres fitted to 14 inch steel rims with attractive and durable hubcaps. A full size spare wheel is stored under the rear cargo floor cover.

The rear seat backs can fold down in a 60:40 split which makes it possible to increase the standard cargo space of 225 litres to 910 litres with the seats folded down.

Hyundai Automotive South Africa’s standard five year or 150 000km warranty, complemented by a five year or 150 000km roadside assistance, forms part of the standard i10 1.1 Motion automatic motoring package that is priced at R129 900.

Hyundai’s full range of i10 model derivatives with their prices is:

• i10 1.1 Motion manual – R118 500

• i10 1.1 Motion automatic – R129 900

• i10 1.25 Fluid manual – R134 500

• i10 1.25 Fluid Automatic – R144 900

• i10 1.25 Glide manual – R142 900.
