POLOKWANE – The all-new C-Class heralds a new chapter in the Mercedes-Benz success story and aims to set new standards in the premium medium-luxury segment. Mercurius Motors Polokwane introduced the new luxurious C-Class last week in Polokwane.

With its intelligent lightweight-design concept boasting weight savings of up to 100kg, excellent aerodynamics and new economical engines, the C-Class establishes new efficiency benchmarks in this segment.

Review had the opportunity to take the C220 BlueTEC model for a drive over the weekend to get a driving impression of this German aristocrat.

As with all the models in the new C-Class range, the C220 BlueTEC has an abundance of safety features.

The plush leather seats, combined with a silky smooth six-speed automatic gearbox, truly give the driver a longing for the open road. It was therefore no surprise that customers were lining up to test drive this beauty.

At first, it might take a couple of minutes to become accustomed to the head-up display feature. However, the driver will soon discover clearer legibility and far less distraction from the road ahead thanks to this feature. Mercedes-Benz designers cleverly placed this display on the front windscreen without obscuring the road in any way.

The new C-Class measures larger than its predecessor, but its superb and easy handling give the impression you are driving a smaller sedan.

There is also ample legroom and head space for both the driver and the passengers.

The new C-Class measurements:

• Wheelbase – 2 840mm.

• Length – 4 686mm.

• Width – 1 810mm.

• Boot capacity – 480l.

• Destination and route download capabilities.

• Audio and video playback.

The new C-Class comes standard with a six years or 100 000km maintenance contract with no customer contribution, and this option can be extended.

Mercedes-Benz offers a new six-speed manual transmission for the C 180, C 200 and C 220 BlueTEC models. The optional 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission comes standard on the C 250 BlueEFFICIENCY model.

Mercurius Motors Polokwane is situated at Motor City on the corner of the N1 and Nelson Mandela Drive. To view the new C-Class, contact any of the friendly Mercedes-Benz sales executives at (015) 299 9500 for further assistance.
